Philosophy
The major of Philosophy (Licentiate) at UFLA, in on-site modality, obtained maximum grade (score 5) at recognition evaluation made by the Ministry of Education. This major is organized by two fundamental, interdependent and unavoidable axes for a solid philosophical formation: the first one focus on the Philosophy History (Antique, Medieval, Modern and Contemporary), having it as fundamental horizon for the formation of teachers and researchers capable of appropriating themselves and transmitting the subjects, arguments, concepts and central problems of the philosophical tradition in a proper, rigorous and critic way; the second one, still considering the historical perspective, focus on the possible connection between the philosophical thinking and the related fields (sciences, arts, politics, moral, history), contained in this major through the great thematic courses (Philosophy and Psychoanalysis, Science Philosophy, Ethic and Political Philosophy, Aesthetic). Furthermore, UFLA's major of Philosophy (Licentiate) has various research groups and programs, among other activities, including the extension and the teaching dimensions. To sum up, the goal of this major is to provide the students with the necessary instruments to develop their intellectual and professional road as High School teacher and/or as researcher/professor at Higher Teaching level.
