The material engineer has a professional profile that enables him to exercise with competence different functions in institutes related to projects, research and knowledge and material applications, whether public or privet, as well as manage their own enterprise.

This professional can act in traditional areas, like metallurgical , civil construction, petroleum industry, automobilist, white ceramic, paints, clay technology, thermoplastics

transformations and natural rubber technology. The bachelor in material engineering also contemplates advanced areas such as nanotechnology, biomaterials and biotechnology, biodegradable materials, electronic ceramics, aerospace  composites and forensic sciences, special metal leagues, niobium, rare lands and military applications.

The general formation of those areas is bases in classes with theoretical content and in practical classes in laboratories (chemistry, physics, biology, electronic microscopy, mechanics rehearsals, processing, among others) and also in visits to companies, laboratories and industrial plants.
