Environmental and Sanitary Engineering
The course of Environmental and Sanitary Engineering treats environmental problems in a integrated way in its ecological, social, economic and technological dimensions, aiming to promote sustainable development. The Environmental and Sanitary Engineer acts controlling water, air and soil pollution, researching about environmental impacts and proposes solutions that aim to the rational improvement of the natural resources; elaborates and executes plans, programs and management projects of hydric resources, basic and environmental sanitation, mitigation and recovery of impacted areas, being also able to evaluate the energetic potential of a region.
Its acting include the rural and urban environment, with emphasis in studying the atmospheric, soil, superficial and subterranean water pollution, besides environmental contamination.
It is also possible to elaborate projects to solve problems related to the environment, besides achieving environmental licensing for potentially polluting activities, aiming to avoid contamination processes and, if needed, recover degraded environments.
