The courses of ABI-Engineering of UFLA show a different pedagogical proposal and founded in modern concepts. Its fundamental element of this proposal is the basic area of entry, which allows the students choose their course subsequently and, if willing to, they may go through more than one formation process.

After the entrance at the Institution and conclusion of the first term, the students who chose the selective process for ABI-Engineering must point out their favorite course, which may be altered during their formation, by changing of students plans, or by necessity, in the case of their  academic performance is not sufficient to course all the curricular contents necessary to the fulfillment of the course they have initially pointed out as favorite. Students with better academic performance may obtain more than one title in engineering at the same time, or with a longer time of permanence at UFLA. Since the proposal is flexible and the formation path is diverse, students count on the continuous and particular monitoring by professors tutors. These professors' fundamental role is to provide students with necessary orientations to their choices, besides monitoring them in their academic and personal development.

The curricular structure of the courses of ABI-Engineering counts on the Core of Common Contents of Engineering (NCCE), which contemplates the formation in natural sciences and mathematic, besides social and philosophical aspects involved in the work on science and technology. NCCE is inserted in all curriculums of ABI-Engineering courses and its contents represents 40% the curriculum of those engineering.

The course that take part in ABI-Engineering are: Civil Engineering, Mechanic Engineering, Materials Engineering and Chemistry Engineering.
